The OMEMO encryption protocol has become the defacto standard for end-to-end encryption among open-source instant messaging clients. OMEMO is an encryption protocol for XMPP (an instant messaging protocol) which is similar to the Axolotl double-ratchet used in Signal.

Armadillo has been involved with OMEMO development for a long time. We funded both it’s development in Conversations (the reference client for OMEMO), as well as a cryptographic audit of the OMEMO protocol.

Both Armadillo Chat and Conversations both use OMEMO to protect messages, files and calls between users.
